may we not miss it..

As I sat on a plane one morning, I looked out the window and marveled at the sunrise. Looking back, i couldn’t tell you the last time I took in the sunrise, the orange and yellow colors that filled the sky.

This was a sign of God’s continuous faithfulness to us, but it’s a sign I think we often miss.

I know I miss it more often than I want to admit. I miss it because I rush through the busyness of life and scroll through the lives of others.

I miss it because it feels too mundane, too through-the-motions.

I miss it because as night falls, I’m already thinking of what the next day may bring. I’m not in the moment, I’m quickly onto the next.

Have we become numb to the gravity, the beauty, and the importance of these signs and wonders? Have we become too busy to sit in the weight of God’s love and marvel at the truth of the Gospel? Has the Gospel story become just another story in the religion of Christianity?

I think we often miss the gravity

the importance

the beauty

the truth

The realness of the Gospel of the Bible as a whole.

The Gospel is a true story.

It’s not just another story.

It is the story of the redemption of the world,

the salvation of humanity.

Jesus came.

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life.

He was pure, spotless in every way.

Yet, He was killed.

He was brutally murdered on a cross.

Taking sin, taking shame, taking it all for the price we couldn’t pay.

We were the sinners. We deserved to die,

Yet He took the cross so that we may live. He took the sacrifice, paying the debt we owed.

Then, He rose.

defeating death, He rose again.

Death did not get the final say.

The King lives.

We cannot forget this story. We cannot lose sight of the perfect love of Jesus.

We do not deserve life, yet in Christ, we are freely given it. That is a gift like no other! That is a joyous thing!

May we enter each day with a humble heart to the King of Kings, our Lord Jesus.

May we sit at His feet in humility, asking for open eyes and hearts to receive His love and grace.

May we weep at the thought of our Savior’s death, yet rejoice at the defeat of death forever.

May we wait expectantly for the return of our Lord, running to His gates with thanksgiving.

Let us preach the gospel to ourselves and others daily. Let us thank our good God for His never-ending love. Let us come to His feet daily, marveling at the truth within His Words.

May we pray for a continuous fire within us & in the seasons when it may kindle, may we seek Him earnestly to relight it again.
